  • Abstract
    An adaptive observer that can identify states and parameters simultaneously is developed for linear time-variant single input-single output systems with unknown parameters. State and parameters identification of a plant with unknown and time-varying parameters is investigated by modifying an adaptive observer, which is developed in this paper. From a computational and structural point of view, the modified structure appears simple enough for a practical realization. By using the approach of the modified structure, identifying adaptive observers of high order are constructed. Increasing the observer´s dynamics allows both nonlinear parameter deviations and parameter dynamics to be estimated. Simulation results show promise for digital signal processing and control of time-variant system description, motion and processes monitoring and control, failure diagnosis systems, estimation and identifying of nonmeasurable states and parameters
