Abstract :
This work proposed an elliptical monopole antenna with a band-notched characteristic for wireless body area network applications. This antenna is composed of a major elliptical radiating element, a minor elliptical radiating element and an inverted trident-shaped ground plane. The minor elliptical radiating element controls the central frequency of the notch band, and the major elliptical radiation element determines the notch bandwidth. The shorting position d determines the sharpness of the notch band. The proposed antenna has omni-directional radiation patterns in the yz-plane. Details of the proposed antenna designs and experimental results concerning the constructed prototypes are presented.
