Abstract
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of low concentration hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) injection into the inlet air stream of a diesel engine on exhaust emissions. The potential effects were initially evaluated by analytical methods using chemical equilibrium computer simulations of a steady-state combustion process and finally through experimental results. While the steady-state combustion simulations do not account for chemical kinetic effects, they were used as an indicator of the trends to be expected from the empirical portion of the investigation. The investigation was initiated with a literature search of pertinent studies which were used to develop a set of control experiments to validate the test configuration
