Abstract :
Terahertz (THz) radiation from a Ta foil excited by tabletop terawatt (T-cube) laser pulses is observed. The mechanism of the terahertz radiation is attributed not to the black body radiation from a Ta plasma but to laser-plasma interaction, i.e. coherent plasma oscillation, nonlinear optical effect, and relativistic electron beam acceleration
