Abstract :
In the Dallas Area Rapid Transit system all buses, coaches and service vehicles will be provided with voice and data communications. A precise GPS satellite positioning system will track all vehicles while a telemetry and data system provide schedule, timepoint, alarms and mechanical monitoring for the fleet. A redundant central computer and multi console dispatch centre will coordinate all aspects of system operation. The main components are: GPS positioning, mobile control and data acquisition, radios, consoles, system computers and software
