Abstract :
Lots of methods about the roadbed freezing have been used including drainage method, replacement of roadbed fillings etc. In order to study the result of gravel pile preventing roadbed freezing, the water migration properties of roadbed is tested under the condition of gravel pile. This experiment simulated roadbed freezing, and experiment condition based on the actual situation of Jin-Cheng expressway. In experiment, the horizontal gravel piles were inserted the model to block the rise of capillary water. The experiment results indicate that laying gravel piles transversely with a certain interval in the roadbed soil can effectively block the rise of underwater, thus can control the extent of soil freezing significantly, and can improve the bearing capacity of roadbed. In the existing freezing prevention treatment of roadbed, this is a viable measure of project.
