Abstract
This presentation assists the power electronic designer in selecting the correct plastic film capacitor for a particular application. It reviews the critical characteristics of the capacitors utilized in most power electronic applications. It presents why polypropylene is the dielectric of choice and which winding construction is most appropriate for a specific application. It also provides several termination methods which improve the capacitor´s dV/dT, current carrying and reliability parameters
