Abstract :
The water consumption and yield of rice were studied in a paddy field in cold region of North China under intermittent irrigation (IT), moisture irrigation (MT) and continuous flooding irrigation conditions (CSF). The results showed that the total water consumption of rice under IT and MT was lower than that under CSF by 13.9% and 20.2%, respectively, and the ANOVA analysis showed that at the 0.05 level, the difference was significant. The actual yield of rice under IT and MT was respectively 9.4% and 12.7% higher than that under CSF, while the theoretical yield of rice under IT and MT was respectively 10.9% and 13.6% higher than that under CSF, and the difference was significant (P<;0.05). And the research showed that IT and MT achieved to increase yield mainly through significant increasing effective panicles per plant. Compared with those under CSF, effective panicles per plant under IT and MT were increased by 9.3% and 9.7%, respectively. IT and MT are two kinds of water-saving irrigation modes suitable for the paddy fields in cold region in north China. Water-reducing and yield-increasing under MT were slightly better than those under IT, but the differences were not significant.
