Abstract
A novel approach to motion estimation is presented. The scheme employs a multiresolution model of 2-D motion, in which the motion within local regions at different scales is described in terms of a six parameter affine model. A frequency domain method is used to estimate the local affine motion parameters and a coarse-fine tracking algorithm is used to determine the global motion field. Results of experiments performed on synthetic and natural image sequences illustrate the effectiveness of the approach
