Abstract :
Land vehicle communications via satellite is emerging as a new and major technology. This is a two-way voice and data network authorized for L-band. Propagation considerations are very important for successful operation. Satellite-mobile links operate with low signal margins and obstructions due to overpasses and vegetation will cause outages and reduce communications quality. System designers require the fading depth in order to design the land mobile satellite link. The propagation models are used to determinate fade statistics for the LMSS (land mobile satellite systems) channel. The propagation models use input parameters which are obtained from the propagation measurements
