Abstract :
The Chinese HJ satellites CCD sensor is similar to Landsat-5 TM with the same spatial resolution, but have enormous advantages in space coverage and frequency of repeated observations. This paper focuses on the reflectance and NDVI evaluation of the HJ-1A CCD, the conclusions including: There´s no obvious difference between the CCD1 and CCD2, but among the 4 bands, blue band shows a relatively worse quality, red and infrared red shows the best quality. The NDVI extracted from HJ CCD shows excellent accuracy compared to Landsat TM, which means a widely applicability, but there´s large error appears in water body NDVI of HJ CCD and should pay attention. HJ CCD sensors have much broader applicability due to its distinct advantage in space coverage and time resolution.
