Abstract :
Groundwater in the runoff process dissolved iron and manganese from strata. The groundwater, polluted slightly by surface contaminants through strata penetration, is multi-polluted groundwater. All these impurities in the water are reductive condition, thus causes oxidation competition and steady-state complexation among them. And effect of the water treatment is reduced. The groundwater was treated with the process as aeration and contact oxidation filtration for pollutants to influence removal iron and manganese from groundwater. The test was done with three different water samples respectively in the meantime. The first water sample contains iron and manganese; the second iron, manganese and ammonium; and the third iron, manganese, ammonium and organics. The third sample is as the multi-polluted groundwater. The test results indicated that coexisting with iron and manganese in water, organic material and ammonia nitrogen impeded greatly oxidation of iron and manganese because removal rate of iron and manganese from the multi-polluted sample was lower greatly than from the samples containing only iron and manganese. And that the removal rate of organic material and ammonia nitrogen from water polluted was low. Coexisting with iron and manganese in water, ammonia nitrogen affected lightly to removal iron, but removal manganese greatly. In conclusion multi-polluted groundwater is difficult to be treated for drinking.
