Abstract
To assess seismic performance of a deteriorated dam floodgate in service, it is necessary to make an accurate analytical model based on the measured data. In this paper, a proper vibration testing method to identify dynamic characteristics of a dam floodgate has been suggested. Two methods of vibration tests using an impact hammer and ambient vibration sources were investigated. Through the field tests on two types of dam floodgates, it has been found that the ambient vibration tests can be more effectively employed in the dam floodgates.
