  • Abstract
The modeling can be understood as a "Representation simplified the reality in which there are some of their properties" (Joly, 1988) or as "an object, a concept or set of relationships that is used to represent or study in a simple and understandable a portion of the empirical reality" (Rios, 1995), i.e. the modeling is performed with the order to have the knowledge on a system. With a representation either physical or theoretical to allow observe an object or situation or the interrelationship between them can count on an understanding of the same and thus able to predict the form as it affects before given situations. In the area of the medicine is need models of functional systems of the human body in order to understand its operation and the pathologies present. Engineering performed an effective support, bringing it\´s namely in the construction of models and the simulation of the same. The interrelationship between these two areas is the model validation. The mechanics of ventilation of a one compartment model and the results in simulation software, both in normal conditions such as in a pathological condition is showed in this article. Also, this paper shows the help of computational tools and how the engineering basic tools could give support in the biomédical studies.
