Abstract
Based on an earlier observer design scheme for a class of nonlinear control systems, the authors construct a corresponding bank of adaptive (output) observers for fault detection and isolation (FDI) purposes in a class of nonlinear systems with parameter uncertainties. Additionally, analysis of the effect of various faults on the measurements is presented. The results of this analysis would have a direct ramification on the minimum number of observers that may be required for FDI purposes
