The Multifunctional Simulator Project for improving VVER NPP operator training

One of the many projects funded by European Commission under its PHARE and TACIS technical assistance programme, and targeted at improved nuclear safety at Eastern Europe nuclear power plants is the Multifunctional Simulator Project. Nuclear Electric is one of the contractors involved in the project. Their role is the project management of the project on behalf of EC. The author describes the background to the project, project strategy, and progress to date. The multifunctional simulator concept and its hardware and software are discussed
