Abstract :
In medical image processing domain, Image segmentation assumes a great degree of importance in the field of Image Processing. This paper proposes a novel method for medical image segmentation based on contourlet transform and watershed algorithm. A particular medical image (brain CT) is used as input and after contourlet transform, we can remove the noise content by employing suitable filter and watershed algorithm, and finally carrying out edge detection for image segmentation. The experimental result shows that the proposed algorithm is very effective. The proposed algorithm has been simulated on MATLAB platform.
