Abstract :
In this work a new model for analyzing single phase transmission lines with frequency dependent electrical parameters is presented. The proposed model is based on the method of characteristics of partial differential equations. For the case of overhead transmission lines this new model requires the approximation of only one electrical parameter by rational functions: the transient resistance.
