Abstract
Proposes a moment-based operator using three edge profile models (step, linear and quadratic) to detect surfaces at sub-voxel precision in 3-D volume images. The segmentation is performed using two methods: (a) iso-density surfaces extraction, (b) physically significant surfaces extraction. Application is made to 3-D CT scan images. Results show that the step model behaves well as a multi-scale zero-crossing detector
