  • Abstract
Since 2005, Statnett (the Norwegian TSO, Transmission System Operator), Sintef Energy Research, and ABB have collaborated on the development and deployment of a wide area monitoring system (WAMS) in the Norwegian 420 kV transmission grid. Previous publications from this collaboration have considered initial phasor measurement unit (PMU) deployment, measurement verifications and sample disturbance WAMS recordings, and real-time calculation of stability indices. This paper brings the attention to the topology of the new SCADA integrated WAMS at Statnett and how real-time data exchange with other Nordic WAMS systems has been facilitated. Experiences with the power oscillation monitoring (POM) application for real-time small signal stability analysis is also presented.
