Abstract :
Summary form only give, as follows. The author first summarizes three different approaches on pricing: namely, locational based marginal pricing, flow gate approach and utilization based pricing. He then explores the underlying common ground. It seems that no matter what the approaches are, there is a need for transaction based power flow analysis that can decompose all involved quantity, such as line flows, power consumption, control utilization, etc. into transaction components. With this approach, it is then clear how utilization of transmission lines, real power consumption, reactive power consumption, involved voltage supports and other control devices can be accounted for individual transactions. Accordingly, the utilization based pricing can be easily calculated and accounted based on contracted pricing (rents) or other pricing schemes such as marginal pricing. The approach can also incorporate the transmission rights, locational based marginal pricing and flow gate approaches easily. Examples are given to demonstrate the idea
