Abstract :
Language is composed of rules of ideas and thoughts using which one can express himself or herself in performing one´s activities. Human beings are blessed with thoughts emanating from one´s mental movements which they bring forward to express. Otherwise, these mental movements would stay as unstructured insensibility (a vague but definite one). Thoughts are nothing but actions from mind directed and triggered by sensations and feelings. These sensations remain somewhat shapeless without their definite configurations as thoughts and ideas. These configurations come out as speech when one wants to communicate with others, otherwise they remain within one-self as mere configurations. These configurations have sound characteristics which are known as sounds of thought familiar to everyone. This paper reviews the key concepts of human cognition and language and its cybernetics, particularly from the point of view of illiterate adults (a big societal challenge across the world as one third of the population is illiterate) learning a language. This paper discusses the key application areas which has driven the progress of technology called Computer Based Functional Literacy (CBFL) to address adult learning based on theory of language, communication and cognition.
