Abstract :
To accurately describe the dynamic damage process of steel structures under strong earthquakes, an improved two parameter damage model was proposed by considering the effect of hysteretic deformation amplitude on accumulative damage energy dissipation. The parameters are determined through an incremental dynamic analysis and damage analysis on a 9-story benchmark steel model due to strong earthquakes. Comparative analyses for steel structure under the strong earthquakes are carried out using Park model and the proposed damage model, and the rationality of the proposed model has been verified.
