Abstract
Synthetic testing is an alternative equivalent method for testing of high voltage circuit breakers, parallel current injection synthetic testing is the most common used method in the high power laboratories. Design considerations of the parallel current injection synthetic testing circuit (Weil-Dobke circuit) are focussed and two other four-parameter transient recovery voltage (TRV) circuits based on parallel current injection circuits are compared. Study and operating experience reveal that the Weil-Dobke circuit is better than other circuits. A new synthetic test plant installed in ABB, Ludvika, Sweden, based on this circuit is reported in this paper
