Abstract :
This paper shows the steady state and transient behavior of a Multilevel Voltage Source Converter with Neutral-Point Clamp, VSC-NPC, interconnecting wind generation to medium voltage grids. The benefits on loads close to wind generation are also analyzed. The purpose of VSC operating as inverter is to support the wind generation system performance and dynamic interaction with the network. For analyzing the transient behavior of the electrical network, several voltage sags and swells are applied to the grid. The simulation results show how the distribution network is protected against these disturbances. The various network operation scenarios have been carried out in Simulinkcopy.
