Abstract :
The subject of this paper is the expansion-contraction scheme for linear time-varying systems. The scheme is useful in the design of decentralized control for the systems composed of overlapping subsystems. It is shown how a decentralized local feedback can be computed for the expanded system, and then contracted for implementation in the original system with overlapping information sets. The concept of suboptimality is used to evaluate the resulting design.
