Abstract
Interactive tele-teaching (ITT) can serve as support for formal education, especially in South Africa, with its huge educational backlog. ITT is a possible application for video coding technology. The world is going digital, and so will video storage and transmission. The coded bistreams of different video sequences display different characteristics when digitally coded. Thus, the study of specific types of coded video sequences is imperative in order to be able to apply existing technology as efficiently as possible. The characteristics distinguishing ITT video sequences from general video, are placed under the spotlight. The article extends previous work of De Wet et al. (see COMSIG conf. proceedings, IEEE South African Symposium on Communications and Signal Processing, Pretoria, 1995, p.81-86)
