Abstract
There is presented an overview what NanoBSD operating system is and how to use it in building powerful network appliances on Single Board Computers (SBC). The supposed audience of this paper is IT/network engineers, researchers, students, Unix/Linux or BSD fans with interest focused on building their own network appliances based on embedded computers (or systems). All the necessary steps are presented in straightforward manner and even without deeper understanding any reader is ready to customize the first experimental installation.
