Abstract :
A pigment-producing strain HBUT-Y was indentified by morphological characterization, physiological & biochemical taxonomy and molecular phylogeny, the carotenoids components in the strain were analyzed. It was found that similarity between the HBUT-Y and strains in genus Gordonia ranged from 95% to 99% through 16S rRNA sequence comparison. Substrate utilization data were provided by Biolog automated microbial identification system. combining with the result, HBUT-Y was preliminary indentified as a Gordonia sputi. Major pigment components in acetone extraction of HBUT-Y were assayed as carotenoids in detection of optical absorption in 452nm,477nm,507nm.
