Abstract
Increasingly the training of engineers in all disciplines is being subjected to greater scrutiny, with increased demands being made for relevancy and training appropriate to the needs of the market and workplace. This requires of tertiary educational institutions a paradigm shift with regard to the type of training and education provided. This paper presents the attempt at the University of Pretoria´s Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering to reengineer its curriculum along traditional lines, and the changes which will be needed to adapt this to future requirements
