Abstract
This paper presents a simple technique to determine network harmonic impedances. The technique relies on the pre- and post-disturbance steady-state waveforms recorded for naturally-occurring or artificially-introduced disturbances. It makes use of the harmonic excitations existed in the network. Since only steady-state waveforms are needed, the technique can be easily implemented using regular power quality meters. Simulation studies and field measurements are used to demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed method. One of the applications of this technique is to determine the existence of resonance conditions for shunt capacitor applications
