Abstract :
In this study we propose a novel bimanual interactive technique for scrolling tasks. In this technique two mice are employed to perform scrolling tasks at the same time. One wheel on one mouse is used to control rough scrolling performance and one wheel on the other mouse is used to control precise scrolling performance. A formal experiment with a series of standard scrolling tasks in a document was conducted, compared with the standard scrolling technique used in the current desktop interface. The experimental results showed that our presented technique was significantly better than traditional scrolling techniques in movement time. The subjective results also indicated that our presented technique was more preferred.
