Abstract :
This article describes the construction and structure of an artificial neural network (ANN) for the prognosis of antenatal state. The results obtained had been compared with those of the prognostic module of the expert system NST-EXPERT and with those obtained by the perinatologists colaborating in the validation study of the latter. The ANN presented here has proved to be an adequate method to accomplish the prognostic partem recognition task. For this reason, a hybrid system incorporating the ANN techniques to manage the neonatal prognosis and the original diagnosis and therapeutic modules of the expert system NST-EXPERT is proposed.
