Abstract :
This paper has presented one method of teaching instrumentation at the second year undergraduate level and has suggested sensors and data acquisition as suitable topics. The need to support the traditional style of teaching with modern computer based methods is strongly supported, providing a suitable balance can be achieved. There is a need for more software to support the teaching of instrumentation and this would clearly benefit from a coordinated approach. An alternative of using mini-projects for practical work is also described
