Abstract
An investigation was carried out to determine whether the concept of differential equations with time-dependent coefficients for the polarization is appropriate for the explanation of non-Debye dielectric response. It was found that for these kinds of differential equations no time-independent permittivity exists. In addition, under sinusoidal excitation the polarization is not sinusoidal
