Abstract
Various issues concerning code time division multiple access (CTDMA), which is an accessing technique well-suited to cellular mobile radio applications, are discussed. A possible receiver design and its performance on the link level in a single cell was simulated, and various approaches for cell separation on the system level are described. Methods for providing multiple and variable bit rates are presented. In particular, the use of a Walsh-Hadamard rate adapter proves useful in this respect. Implementation aspects such as complexity and compatibility with GSM are also discussed
