Abstract :
This paper deals with applying the continuation method to quasi-steady-state analysis to study long term voltage stability problems resulting from small disturbances or load increase. A general framework for this analysis is first described. Then the continuation method is proposed to perform a simulation that approximates the long-term evolution by tracing successive equilibrium points, hence offering a good compromise between efficiency and accuracy. The parameterized continuation technique provides good convergence when the system approaches the critical point. Numerical results with a small test system are presented
