Abstract
Risk assessment of moving metallic particles in GIS requires the estimation of a particle´s dimensions and mass from partial discharge measurements. A procedure to estimate these parameters is derived. It requires parallel acoustic and electric PD detection. It is independent of the unknown acoustic signal attenuation between the particle and the sensor and yields length and mass of straight elongated particles
