Abstract
The introduction of a fundamentally new microwave measurement technology has provided the petroleum, food and chemical processing industries with a method of real time, full stream process monitoring. This technology, known as oscillator load pull, is based on detecting changes in the permittivity of the materials being examined. An explanation of the measurement technique is provided. A comparison with previous technologies and the unique problems of each are discussed. The evolution of practical microwave measurement systems in industry is presented with a projection of possible future applications
