Abstract :
For early WSN research, since purposes of the application are simple, there are no need to research a middleware for it. Because of the diversity of today´s applications, not only studies need to start from scratch each time, but also resulting in a long cycle software development, high cost, making the design is not convenient. So it is necessary, depending on the application of general-purpose WSN middleware, to shield the operating system, hardware and network transmission differences, allowing developers to focus only on functional requirements, that will be an effective solution. Due to the special characteristics of WSN, there are too many difficulties in designing WSN middleware. However, publish/subscribe interaction paradigm is a large-scale network which is completely decoupled in time and space, based on event-driven, and just suitable for WSN of such a loosely coupled, data-centric .To address this issue, in this paper, we propose a new publish/subscribe middleware framework for WSN, which is called PS4WSN. This paper firstly describes the challenges for designing WSN middleware. Secondly, we investigates publish/subscribe middleware for WSN, and then give a brief introduction of the publish/subscribe middleware principle. Finally, the design of PS4WSN architecture is proposed.
