Abstract :
This versatile microprogram controlled linked list Direct Memory Access (DMA) chip is designed to direct the reassembly of message fragments in a Local Area Network (LAN) gateway. It has been custom designed to operate on link control blocks containing non-sequential control words. A description of the control block format, architectural composition and external control of the DMA is presented in this paper.
