Abstract :
Creative endeavors “design work” are necessary to make up machinery products. The expert who has knowledge, experience, and knowhow plays an important role to continuing enterprises. Especially in recent years, the considerations on design business in manufacturing are remarkably increasing on articles such as globalization, environmental problems and new technologies, etc. How to improve the intellectual productivity of design becomes a pressing problem need to be solved as one of onsite items. But general-purposed CAD systems are good to support drawing but not effective to support processing design knowledge. Therefore there was a considerable growth of interest in knowledge-based design support systems. To develop such kind of systems, we have proposed a model for design object representation based on object-oriented methodologies evolved in software engineering and attribute-oriented modeling paradigms. This paper focuses the discussion on some basic concepts about the transfer of design knowledge, skill, and knowhow in design and manufacturing field of mechanical products.
