Abstract :
A new approach of a self-tuning control scheme to enhancement the stability of multimachine power systems is presented in this paper. The dynamic performance of each synchronous machine in the multimachine power system is described by a discrete time model for the purpose of self-tuning stabiliser design. The stabiliser is designed using parameters of this model that are estimated every sampling period depending on the input-output data of the each machine in the power system. In the proposed approach, the performance index for each machine consists of the machine output, its first derivative and its second derivative and the machine input. The performance of every machine controlled with self tuning stabilisers in multimachine power systems is investigated under violent faulted conditions
