Abstract
Shevky and Bell initiated social area analysis in the study of Los Angeles and San Francisco. In China, there have been many studies of the social structure of major cities using the Fifth National Population Census data at the sub-district (jiedao) level recently. This paper uses the factorial ecological analysis and Moran I Index to explore the social spatial structure of Nanjing in 2000, based on the Fifth National Population Census data at the sub-district level in Nanjing.
