Abstract
It is demonstrated that the electro-optical Kerr effect with field modulation can be used for angularly resolved field mapping of two-dimensional objects in transformer oils. This technique can determine the amplitude as well as the direction of the electric field in liquid insulation systems relevant for converter transformers. As an example, the technique was applied to two overlapping Macrolon barriers in transformer oil between two plane electrodes
