Abstract
We report picosecond time-resolved pump-probe experiments using a reflection near-field scanning optical microscope. The sample was a laterally-patterned gold nanostructure. Strain-induced reflectivity changes as low as /spl Delta/R/R=10/sup -4/ could be detected in the near-field.
