  • Abstract
Amblyopia, or ´lazy eye´, is currently treated by wearing an adhesive patch over the non-amblyopic eye for several hours per day, over a period of many months. Noncompliance with patch wearing is a significant problem. We propose a new binocular amblyopia therapy approach which based on Virtual Reality (VR) technology with Full-field vision. We devised a novel system providing interactive binocular treatment for amblyopia; the Viston-VRTM. We let children watch a cartoon movie, followed by playing an interactive computer game to improve their vision. In this way, the lazy eye can be constantly stimulated, which consequently increase visual acuity, enhance their amalgamation ability and improve stereo vision. This paper describes research development of the Viston- VRTM system providing Virtual Reality interactive computer games. By contrast with the traditional occlusion therapy, the Viston-VRTM system provides a more interesting approach. The result of clinical application is encouraging.
