Abstract :
Identification of unknown materials, and of changes in known materials, is important to many manufacturers and suppliers. Infrared spectroscopy and the combination of thermal and infrared techniques allows forensic analysis and identification of new and stressed materials. An overview of various Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopic and allied thermal techniques is presented. Examples of applications of the methods and some of their advantages and disadvantages are discussed
