Abstract
Predicting the performance of a sonar system incorporating lofars requires quantitative information about their detection performance. If performance data regarding a particular model are not available, it would be useful to have a means for predicting its performance from processing, display, and viewing parameters. The prediction method can also serve as a display design tool and as a means for determining ways of utilizing equipment more effectively. The method developed is based on information about visual perception systems.
