Abstract
The AHP uses an evaluation scale. This paper presents a method for evaluating the appropriateness of the scale. It is based on human judgment and a nonlinear model. Based on a characteristic of the scale, an integrated method is proposed. The appropriateness of some integrated scales is evaluated, using a practical survey on the choice of travel routes, and boundary curves of a scale from a nonlinear programming model. Based on the consistency of evaluating indexes, and on the comparison between calculated results and actual choices, the usefulness of the method is verified
